Class Expectations
Hello everyone. Here are some of the things that I expect from you as students in my class.
Attendance: I expect student to arrive on time to class with all of the materials they are going to need that day. If you are late, please come into class as quietly as possible and make sure to remind me to change the attendance at the end of the class because you might be marked absent.
Behavior: I expect all students to respect their classmates, my classroom and me. Do not talk over one another and wait to be called on to speak in class.
Assignments: I expect all students to complete all work assigned by the due date. I do not accept late work. I also expect the work to be that of the person who submits it. Plagiarism is not acceptable at any level and there are harsh consequences for those that are caught.
Technology: I expect that the students will use the technology provided by the district in an appropriate manner. Students are expected to follow the AUP they signed at the start of the year. Any questions regarding the technology used in class should be addressed to me as soon as possible.
Communication: I expect that students will use the various tools available (email, Twitter, phone, etc.)to contact me when their are problems. I do not respond to email, tweets, etc. after 7pm. If you send me something after 7pm, I will not address it until the morning. I am also available before school in my classroom as early as 6:45am.
Effort: I understand that English class is not everyone's strong suit, but I do expect that every student tries their hardest on all assignments. If you show me the effort, you are going to do great things in my class.
Fun: I expect this class to be fun. If we all work together this year, we are going to do some very fun things. After spending a couple of days with all of you, I really think I have some great classes and we are going to have a blast.

Lipdub Awesomeness #edchat #engchat
My students have been working very hard and have been tested out of their minds, so I thought it would be fun to have a "Good Time". Here are two videos the students did all on their own. The video with the most views by Monday wins a special prize. Spread the word!

About Me
My name is Nicholas Provenzano and I am a high school English Teacher. I have been teaching for 10 years and all of them have been at Grosse Pointe South. I have my Masters in Educational Technolgy from Central Michigan University and I am very excited to use what I learned with my students. I have taught Freshmen English in the past, but have spent the majority of my time teaching American Literature. I love to have student do projects in stead of taking multiple chioce tests. I think it really allows students to express what they have learned in their own way. I look forward to all of the great projects I know I will get from students this year. The more creative they are, the better.
I grew up in Detroit and Grosse Pointe and went to school at St. Clare of Monetfalco. Go Falcons! I have an older and younger brother who I love to hang out with during the weekends. I'm married and have a beautiful baby boy of my own. He is the most adorable baby in the world, so do not try to compete. I spend what little free time I have working on my website and writing reviews of education related products. You can find me at TheNerdyTeacher.com. I use Twitter to communicate to students what assigments have been given each day and you can follow me at @MrProvenzano.
I also enjoy working in my garden and on my pond that I built all by myself! I like to game, but the baby cuts into most of my game time and he is such a Newb in COD. I'm a joky type of person that love literature and discussing the deeper meaning of things. I try to create a fun environement for students to work in and feel comfortable sharing their ideas. Please see me if you ever have questions or concerns with what is going on in class. I'm here to talk whenever you need me.
I'm excited to work with all of my students this year and look forward to the great times we are going to have.
